Pitch
Yūrei is a psychological horror game set in a manga’s haunted pages.
You play as Jun, a mangaka absorbed by their own book.
You are forced by the manga to continue and find an end to the story.
It’s up to you to fight your past demons, rewrite the narrative and break the curse…
Context
Yūrei has been developped over 5 months as an end-of-year project
at the Cnam-Enjmin (Angoulême) by 10 2nd year master students.
This is a prototype and a demo of what the game could be.
You may encounter bugs, missing contents or placeholder.
We're aware of major issues and are actively fixing them.
Story
The demo takes place after the start of the game. As such, there is no onboarding on the controls. Please read the controls chart below.
Before this chapter, Jun realizes they are trapped inside their own manga written in their young years. The manga itself is fused to their hand: Jun can't remove it nor tore pages. The manga can communicate with Jun by taking the role of the narrator.
The manga tells Jun that they left it unfinished and craving to be completed. Jun has no choice but to agree to become the protagonist of their story to go through it and seek an ending.
Struggling to remember the story they wrote many years before, Jun has an argument with the manga which decides to remain silent.
Jun will soon realize that the manga has an other purpose than to help them...
